„THREE BILLBOARDS“ // movie recommendation

Wie kommt’s? // How come?

My stepdad said, that everybody should definitely watch this movie.
And after I dragged myself to the cinema last weekend, feeling ill and shitty, I can only say, that he is absolutely right.
Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri is a phenomenal movie, that makes you feel concerned.

Outraged and desperate in her grief, Mildred Heyes pays for three billboards to be put up outside her town. She wants to raise awareness about the fact that her daughter was raped and murdered about seven months ago and that there have still been no arrests.
The billboards start a debate between Mildred and the police and also put the whole town in rage. A struggle with grief, anger, justice and desperation begins.

A great performance by Frances McDormand, Sam Rockwell and Woody Harrelson, amazing atmospheric pictures and strong dialogues make the whole movie. On top of that go the hard-to-handle story behind the billboards and the developments of the characters, who are not really likable to begin with. Their actions make it impossible to tell who’s good and who’s bad. The movie is simply an experience, that makes you feel all the feels. Anger and frustration transfer onto the person watching, but at the same time you laugh about the ironic dialogues and forget, that this movie and its plot is actually anything but funny; the rape and murder of a teenage girl.
A movie that makes you think, makes you want to speak up and maybe gives you some kind of encouragement to get up and do something, see change and let go of the past. No matter the cost.
